When is enough, enough? I mean, a writer can only take so many varying opinions before they go absolutely loony. What feedback do you use, what feedback due to file, and what feedback do you just throw away? Who are the experts, who aren’t; really? And of those experts, whose approach to writing is bias vs. objective, best practice vs. industry standard?
As of today, I have let go of the overwhelm. I will appreciate the feedback received, continue to seek it out, and learn to filter it out; taking in only that which feels right to ME… no one else. I totally get there are industry standards, formulas, successes and lessons learned. But, I need to write my story the way I want to write it, using the best judgement I can, based on the studying, research and training I do. After that, the ownness is on me, and when should there be an absence of ‘head honchos’ not writing a check for my script, I will certainly go back and reassess. Until then….
Shedding the #screenwriting bitch is a test of will, confidence and might!!! And I am up for the ongoing adventure.
